The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. For our Primary School, we are seeking to employ a knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate 

IB PYP Programme Coordinator 

From 1 August 2025 

Our new IB PYP Coordinator will have the vision, commitment, and enthusiasm for teaching and learning to guide the Primary School in its continuing development of a strong intellectual, physical, social and emotional foundation for our students. The successful candidate will be a member of the primary school and broader ISL educational leadership teams.  As we value a commitment to the practice of teaching, the PYP Coordinator will also teach 30-50% in the Primary School. 

Main Responsibilities  

  • Providing leadership and coordination of the PYP/ learning program by meeting regularly with year-level teams to ensure there are common approaches to teaching and learning and strong horizontal and vertical alignment in the school's curriculum 
  • Working closely with the Primary School Leadership Team to assess future curriculum needs 
  • Co-leading whole school curriculum review with the MYP and Diploma Coordinator 
  • Supporting the development of core aspects of the PYP: the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning, Units of Inquiry and the PYP Exhibition 
  • Supporting the ISL Mission and Values; helping to generate a positive, safe, caring, and creative atmosphere 
  • Supporting teachers who are new to the PYP 
  • Playing a key role in the promotion of professional learning 
  • Leading the appraisal of a proportion of primary school staff 
  • Supporting parents new to the PYP through online and face-to-face meetings 
  • Co-leading academic transitions into the MYP with the MYP Coordinator 
  • Revising and updating all relevant IB policies  
  • Assist in collecting, analysing, and reporting to stakeholders on student data for learning 
  • Through a teaching commitment, modelling outstanding PYP practice 

Desired profile  

  • A recognised teaching qualification at graduate or post-graduate level 
  • At least 5 years of PYP experience, particularly in international settings 
  • Leadership experience, either of part of the programme such as the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning, Units of Inquiry and the PYP Exhibition, or of the programme as a whole is a distinct advantage 
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision for the PYP within the wider school 
  • Commitment to the concept and practice of a school-wide instructional coaching model 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and sustain trusting relationships with staff, children, and parents 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to a wide range of stakeholders 
  • Proven ability to manage change and build a shared understanding 
  • Well-organised person with ability to set deadlines and deliver results 
  • Ability to use data constructively for curriculum development 
  • High level of cultural awareness and international mindedness 
  • Excellent ICT skills and a knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy 
  • Commitment to self-reflection and professional development  
  • Proficiency in English; ability to communicate effectively in French would be a strong asset to further support our approach to language learning
